Developing and co-designing interventions for disorganisation

This section focuses on turning research insights into practical tools that improve communication and social connection for people experiencing disorganised thinking. Guided by the predictive processing framework, we explore how context and communication strategies can support clearer expression and understanding. Early studies suggest that adjusting how conversations are structured can help but these approaches haven’t yet been tested in psychosis.

We are working closely with people who have lived experience to identify what kinds of support already exist, what’s missing, and what barriers people face in accessing help. Together, we’ll adapt an existing communication-based intervention to better fit the needs of diverse individuals. By combining speech analysis tools, co-designed materials, and inclusive research practices, this team aims to show how meaningful patient involvement can lead to more effective, acceptable, and empowering interventions.
